في زيارتي الأخيرة للدوحة ديسمبر الماضي اخيرا سنحت لي الفرصة بزيارة متحف الفن الإسلامي الذي لطالما تمنيت زيارته لكن رحلاتي للدوحة عادة ما تكون سريعة ولا تزيد عن يوم واحد.
متحف مصمم ليكون قطعة فنية كبيرة مشعة ليلا ونهارا في خليج الدوحة لتضم بداخلها مئات القطع من العالم الإسلامي بأسره.
قطع بها روح تاريخنا الفني العريق، امتداد الحضارة الإسلامية عبر القارات الثلاث على مدى التاريخ نتج عنه هذا التنوع الكبير في القطع الفنية.
زرت متاحف عديدة من قبل ولكن هذه هي المرة الأولى التي أرى فيها هذا العدد الهائل من القطع الفنية تحت سقف واحد، كلما ظننت بأنني وصلت إلى نهاية القاعة أكتشف بأن هناك جزء آخر لم أكتشفه بعد.
تصميم المتحف المعماري من الخارج ملفت للانتباه ومن الداخل أيضا ساحر للغاية. افتتح المتحف في عام 2008 وتم بناء جزيرة صناعية أعدت خصيصا لاستضافة هذا الصرح الجميل. تم اختيار هذا الموقع على ساحل مقابلا الجهة الاخرى من المدينة العامرة بالأبراج وناطحات السحاب ويسمح لأكبر عدد من العابرين برؤيته.
مصمم المتحف هو المهندس المعماري ليو مينغ باي واختار كل عناصر التصميم بدقة متناهية، لأنه حسب تعبريه أي قطعة فنية مهما كانت بديعة يمكن لخطأ في موقعها أن يحجب جمالها.
المبنى من الخارج مبني على أسس الهندسة التكعيبية لترسم الشمس بأشعتها خلال النهار ظلالا للمتحف تنوره وتظهر جماله، أما ليلا هنالك أنوار موزعة بدقة في أماكن محددة تنير المبنى بصورة جمالية، والحجر الجيري الذي يغطي المبنى من الخارج هو انعكاس للمناخ الصحراوي والجاف والشمس الحارقة ليتماشى التصميم مع مناخ قطر.
يتكون المتحف من خمسة طوابق تنتهي بقية زجاجية تعكس نور الشمس لتضيء المتحف من الداخل ونافذة كبيرة في إحدى الجهات تطل على المنظر البانورامي للعاصمة.
وبالمناسبة المهندس ليو مينغ باي هو من صمم الهرم الزجاجي لمتحف اللوفر في فرنسا.
الدخول للمتحف مجاني وله ساعات زيارة متغيرة طبقا لأيام الأسبوع ويمكن التأكد منها عبر الموقع الإلكتروني للمتحف. تتوفر أيضا خدمة الاتصال بشبكة الانترنت(الواي فاي) مجانا للزوار، وهناك غرف صلاة للنساء والرجال وغرفة للحقائب الكبيرة بالإضافة لمقهى ذو إطلالة رائعة ومتجر هدايا جميعها مستوحاة من القطع المعروضة في المتحف.
هناك مجموعة دائمة من القطع والمعروضات في المتحف لكن يستضيف المتحف بعض المعارض المؤقتة وكما ذكرت في تدوينتي السابقة سعدت جدا بزيارة معرض كنوز من الصين الذي مجموعة من مجسمات جيش التاراكوتا.

فيما يخص المقتنيات هنالك تنوع كبير من الخزفيات الصينية، أضرحة القبور الفارسية، المجوهرات والحلي، ادوات الاستكشاف والجغرافيا، المعدات الحربية والمخطوطات ومن أهمها الشاهنامة الفارسية وبضع صفحات من المصحف العباسي الأزرق الذي يعتبر من أجمل المصاحف والعديد غيرها من القطع.
شخصيا عندما أرى هذا العدد الهائل من القطع قد أفقد تركيزي لا أستطيع أن أتذكر أسماء القطع أو العصر التي جاءت منه لكن بكل تأكيد القطع التي رأيتها هناك تؤكد على ثراء الحضارة الإسلامية بالفنون.

بالنسبة لي القطعة التي شدتني كانت قناعا حربيا للوهلة الأولى ذكرني بقناع الموت الذي صنع لدانتي أليغييري مؤلف الكوميديا الإلهية. وبالطبع سأزور المتحف مجددا متى ما زرت الدوحة مرة أخرى.

In my last visit to Doha last December I finally got the chance to visit the Museum of Islamic Art, a place I wanted to visit for a long time but my trips to Doha are always quick and doesn’t last for more than a day.
A museum designed to be a big artistic piece glowing day and night on the coast of Doha and includes within many pieces from the whole Islamic world.
Pieces that carries the spirit of our artistic long history, the expansion of the Islamic civilization that covered cities in the three continents resulted in such diversity in art.
I been to many museums before but it was the first time for me to see such an enormous number of art pieces under one roof, whenever I thought that I am done with one hall I discover that there is another section that I didn’t discover yet.
The architecture design of the museum from the outside is attractive, yet from the inside its charming as well. It was opened in 2008 and a special artificial island was created to host this beautiful landmark. This location was chosen specifically on the coast opposite to the sky line of Doha that is filled with buildings and skyscrapers and to make it visible to everybody in Doha.
The architect who designed the museum is I.M. Pei and he was very specific in choosing all elements of the design because according to him any artistic piece, no matter how beautiful it is, a mistake in placing it can block it beauty.
From the outside the building is build base on the cubism engineering principle, the sunshine during the day would draw shadows that makes it shine, at night there are lights placed in specific places that help enlighten the building and makes us sparkle. The limestone that covers the whole building is actually a reflection to the sunny dry climate of Qatar so that the building would match the nature of the place.
The museum consist of five floors and ends with a glass dome that enlighten the whole place, and there is a huge window on the other side giving a panoramic view to the city.
By the way I.M. Pie is the same architect who designed the glass pyramid in the Louver museum in France.
The museum doesn’t impose any entree fees which is great! And it also offered free Wifi. Visiting hours is a bit different in every day of the week so you better check online before going. Almost everything is provided, prayer rooms for males and females, room for big travel bags, a café with amazing view and great gift store with ,any items inspired from the pieces in the museum.

Of course there is the permanent galleries but also the museum hosts different visiting exhibitions and as I mentioned in a previous post I really enjoyed the Treasures of Chine where I saw some of the Terracotta army.
Regarding the pieces in the museum there is a variety of items, from Chinese pottery, grave stones from Iran, jewelry, exploration tools and maps, war equipment’s and many manuscripts such as the Shahnama from Parsi history and few bags of the blue Abbasi Quran that is considered one of the most beautiful copies of the Quran and many many other pieces.
Personally, when I see such a big collection of pieces I can easily lose my concentration and I can remember what piece I just saw or what era it came from, but it certainly the pieces ther proved how rich the Islamic art is.
