Excerpts from Famous Operas at the Main Hall

To carry out its artistic mission and create a unique operatic experience, the Cairo Opera Company, under the supervision Dr. Tahia Shams El-Din, presents excerpts from famous operas at the Main Hall on 29 November 2023 at 8 p.m. The event is accompanied by the prestigious Cairo Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Nayer Nagui.

The concert program includes a vast variety of excerpts from classical operas such as Puccini’s “La Bohème”, Saint-Saëns’ “Samson and Delilah”, Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Bizet’s “Carmen”, Rossini’s “Le Barbier de Séville”, Donizetti’s “La Favorita”, and Verdi’s “Rigoletto”, “Macbeth”, and “La Traviata”.
The evening features Egyptian opera singers: Tahia Shams El Din, Amr Medhat, Walid Korayem, Moustafa Mohamed, Reda El Wakil, Mona Rafla, Nouresta El-Marghany, Mina Raphael, Gehan Fayed, Amina Khairat, Emad Adel, Jolie Faizy, and Osama Gamal.

The Cairo Opera Company was officially founded in 1964 and has a vast repertoire that includes more than 32 opera productions. Members of the Company performed notable roles at the most prestigious venues worldwide. Through years of dedication and diligence, the Cairo Opera Company succeeded in amassing a fan base of opera enthusiasts and music lovers.

On the other hand, the Cairo Opera Orchestra, founded in 1994, plays a major role in Egypt’s classical music scene. Established to accompany the different companies of the Cairo Opera House (mainly the Cairo Opera Ballet Company and the Cairo Opera Company) in their performances, the Orchestra’s repertoire includes a vast number of celebrated classical ballets, famous operas and gala concerts. Since season 2011-2012, Maestro Nayer Nagui is Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Cairo Opera Orchestra.
