Swiss cops have shared a video of pretending to have sex with a donkey as part of a campaign to fight against children sharing the same type of illegal footage.

The campaign that originated with cops in the northern Swiss city of Winterthur is meant to warn youngsters that sharing scenes of bestiality or indeed any scenes of illegal activities could make the person possessing them punishable by law.

In the bizarre clip, the footage shows a man running into a field where the donkey is tethered.

It shows him pulling his trousers down in order to have sex with the animal from behind.

The man's bum cheeks were pixellated out boy the police.

It then cuts to the video being viewed on a mobile phone before jail bars cut through the screen.

Swiss police (STAPO) cooperated with the Swiss crime prevention organisation for the initiative that they argued was necessary in order to prevent the spreading of such material.

Police felt they were increasingly coming across such "illegal" material when carrying out criminal investigations, so deciding the project was necessary.

Critics pointed out that the footage, which is apparently staged, nevertheless was drawing comparisons between the case of a farmer in Thurgau that made worldwide headlines for using his farm animals for sexual pleasure, including sheep, cows and calves.

They noted that all too often children and young people did not realise that the possession of such material was illegal, and are often encouraged to watch it as a test of courage.

Police spokesman Adrian Feubli said: "Many young people are not aware that the possession of illegal videos can see them facing legal consequences.

"We wanted to do something that went a stage further than simply having a policeman standing in front of the camera saying that it is illegal."
