Li Keqiang Meets with President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine, Stressing to Push for Greater Development of China-Ukraine Strategic Partnership

On 6 December 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met at the Great Hall of the People with President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine.

Li Keqiang said that China and Ukraine enjoy a solid foundation of mutual trust and bilateral relations have entered a new period of all-dimensional and rapid development. President Xi Jinping has held fruitful talks with you. Both sides have jointly signed the China-Ukraine Friendly Cooperation Treaty and other important documents, uplifting China-Ukraine relations to a new high. China is ready to work with Ukraine to enhance political mutual trust and to deepen exchanges and cooperation in all fields so as to push for greater development of China-Ukraine strategic partnership.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Ukraine are highly complementary to each other in economic and trade cooperation and both sides should better leverage the role of the China-Ukraine Inter-governmental Cooperation Committee to strengthen industrial docking and to optimize the trade structure so as to enhance the quality and quantity of trade and investment cooperation. Both sides should promote cooperation on agriculture, infrastructure construction, energy and other major projects, expand cooperation in the fields of financial credit, scien-tech, aviation and aerospace and keep close local as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges to ensure that the outcomes of cooperation will better benefit both peoples.

Yanukovych expressed that Ukraine-China cooperation has unceasingly yielded positive outcomes in recent years and further deepening Ukraine-China strategic partnership is one of the priorities for Ukraine's foreign relations. Ukraine is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with China, to improve the cooperation mechanisms and to expand cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, high-tech, finance, agriculture and energy in order to actively provide facilitation for Chinese investment.
