Of all the authors I have read on the subject of Flight-19 Myhre is the only one that I know of to put their knowledge of military operations and aviation practices to work actually looking for the planes.

This is more of a reference book and memoire describing his journey searching for the lost crews, explains his theories for locating the aircraft and how he arrived at those conclusions. It also details his unfortunate heart ache working with Project-19 and the US Navy to retrieve a TBM Avenger from the ocean floor only to have it yanked away by the Navy before a thorough investigation of the wreckage could be obtained.

It is an eye opening account of little talked about features of the Flight-19 story including the possible discovery of FT-81 in the wetlands of Sebastian Florida, the fact that the plotting of the Flight-19 'Fix' was overseen by a Woman- a big deal in 1945-and a recounting of a World War fighter ace who's plane over shot it's base by hundreds of miles because of high altitude winds.

All in all: the books references make it a great book for researchers as it has a prolific bibliography.

Excellent history of Flight 19!

The book was full of information that keeps the search interesting. The only problem I had with the book - is on the Kindle, the print skips all over the place from page to page. Example: One paragraph had the first five lines on one page, might be continued two pages later, with a lot of unrelated text between the two. Aside from this, the book really makes you want to go hunt for some Avengers.
