The Philippines’ famed Banaue Rice Terraces, pictured here, dried up completely in 2010. Durham, New Hampshire-based Applied GeoSolutions’ Rice Decision Support System, which it developed with NASA funding, will use satellite imagery to make more accurate predictions, helping to stabilize the world’s rice markets.
