Gymnast Shin Soo Ji has just made all other ceremonial first pitches irrelevant. There’s no going back now.

How many times can you say that someone has invented a new pitch? On top of that, how many people invented a new pitch while throwing out a first pitch at a baseball game WHEN IT’S NOT EVEN YOUR SPORT? Well, gymnast Shin Soo Ji did just that, flooring the players, the stadium and me:

Rhythmic gymnast Shin Soo Ji, who was previously caught up in dating rumors with popular comedian Heo Kyung Hwan, stepped onto the mound for an unforgettable pitch at a baseball game!

Because she is an athlete, many looked forward to seeing her pitch, and she definitely did not disappoint as she showed the world a new style of pitching, fusing gymnastics and baseball!

Doing a spin called ‘back illusion’, Shin Soo Ji managed to spin her body around 360 degrees and even threw the ball quite straight. This left all the players to gasp in surprise and Shin Soo Ji’s name quickly shot up to the top of search term rankings, even gaining media attention from overseas.

It seems like some of our beloved idols (ahem, Jessica, *winkwink*), could pick up a few pointers from Shin Soo Ji!

What does one even call this? A whirlwind ball? Somersault slider? A cyclone curve? Weirdly hot? I have no idea, but for an “illusion” pitch, Shin Soo Ji sure fired that ball pretty straight considering that she essentially spun her entire body in a tilted circle. If I tried that, I’d hurl my lunch, not the ball. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!?!?
